Deep Tissue Massage

Treatment / Injury Recovery

Deep Tissue Massage is used to target knots and release chronic muscle tension. It is also beneficial for reducing inflammation and to help eliminate scar tissue. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia.

Deep Tissue is a massage using slower strokes, thumbs, forearms, and elbows to help release the chronic patterns of muscular tension. Unlike Swedish Massage where the strokes go with the muscle fibers, Deep Tissue uses strokes also across the muscle fibers.  Thus, I include cross fiber friction where necessary. The more intense movements and techniques such as deep finger and forearm/elbow pressure may be slightly uncomfortable and can cause soreness that lasts a couple of days before resulting in the desired relaxation and pain relief. This treatment requires some  of your participation and communication to indicate the presence and intensity of pain and discomfort and will be performed according to your comfort level.
